Peter Lynch is perhaps the most famous mutual fund manager in the world. He started managing the Fidelity Magellan Fund in 1978 with $20 million in assets.
When he retired in 1990 at age 46, the fund had grown to over $14 billion in total assets.
Mr. Lynch was one of the first to uncover hidden gems like Dunkin' Donuts, Pier 1 Imports and Taco Bell.
While he admits to taking plenty of risks while managing the Magellan Fund, he never suffered a losing year. In fact, Lynch achieved an average annual return of 29%.
So why does Peter Lynch hold a significant investment in this microcap stock trading around $1 per share?
I have absolutely no idea!
However, I do know that the Peter Lynch Foundation owns 5.1% of the stock per Express-1's recent 10-K filing.
I also know that Peter Lynch has investment and voting control over shares beneficially owned by his wife... and shares owned in trust for members of Mr. Lynch's family... and shares benefically owned by a charitable foundation of which Peter Lynch is a trustee.
Perhaps the 1,349,000 shares of XPO under his direction will prompt you to take a closer look at Express-1 Expedited Solutions for your own portfolio.
